John Slater

About Me

My Name is John Michael Slater, I am 16 years old, and a Junior in high school at Richland County High School. I have a family of five. My mom Tabatha (Davis) Slater, my dad Zack Slater, my younger brother is 11 and named Luke Slater, and my older sister who is 18 is named Emma Slater. I have always grown up around church, because my dad is a pastor at Faith Bible Church just north of town. I have been considered intelligent and mature for my age. I also spoke at our eighth grade graduation/Promotion. I am a sousaphone and Tuba player in the Richland County High School Marching Tigers. I am also the varsity captain of the scholar bowl team, and an avid member of the Vat Club. I volunteer at the Richland County museums, as well as being a member of the Richland County Heritage HIstory Society.

I joined the Richland County CEO program because it was something different than a normal high school class, as well as the prospect of learning how to run a business. Through CEO I hope to learn how to run a business, how to network, as well as create bonds that will last the rest of my life. After high school I plan on going to Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for under-grad, then University of Illinois for Grad-school. I am currently looking to go to school for either high-school or college history education or Law. I plan on coming to a school somewhere local to teach history or practice law.
