This is CEO member, Payden Buchanan. We have just completed the book, Things You Wish You Knew Yesterday, written by the architect of the CEO program, Craig Lindvahl. My favorite chapter in this book is titled “Nobody Cares About the Storm.” I related to this chapter because it is a great example of how nobody cares about your problems if all you do is complain, complain, complain. This chapter talks about how it is important to express how you feel to people you trust but it also talks about how there is a difference between expressing yourself and complaining about something that is 100% off topic. When people express themselves to others about real problems then they can get real solutions from those people, but if they are constantly complaining about something and they never take action on the feedback from others to help them, then nobody will care about your storm. No one wants to listen to someone complain to them about how bad they got it when they live in a three story house and have, an inground pool, a brand new car, and no job because they have great parents who pay for their needs and wants. My favorite quote from this chapter is when Craig wrote, “Do what you say you’ll do. Do it in a way that people won’t about some storm rolling in, because they know that if you say you’ll bring the ship in safely, you’ll bring the ship in safely. If you say it will be done, it’s already done.” This is how we should handle situations, do what you say and get it done!
