Dear CEO Community,
I'd like to ask you this morning to allow me to say my final goodbye to the program as a student and member. When I look at the program's website and see my name, Travis Wilke, along with my picture, I reflect on spending my senior year in devotion to Richland County CEO. Whether it was selling advertisement spots during the micro business, communicating with the Harlem Wizards through many phone calls and emails, or preparing for a competition during the individual business phase, this program has kept me busy since the first day in August of 2019. As my time in the program comes to a close, I know that I join a proud group of CEO Alumni and Legacies. While I may not have experienced CEO in the same way as past classes, I know that the dedication from investors, board members, Sheri Gray, and my mentor, Colby Shawver, has shown me new ways to serve my community. Every guest speaker and tour provided a chance to learn from some of the best role models in our area. I believe that is what I will miss most about CEO. When being welcomed to the program, I was given a business card book that is now full of cards from businesses we visited along with ones I received at the Home Show in Indianapolis. As I look through the cards, I am reminded of all the experiences that came with meeting the people whose name and contact information I have been given. Those first handshakes and greetings are some of the things I remember most from my year in the program. What followed those handshakes make up my favorite memories, none of which surpass this one pictured in which I introduced Kenny Kuhn from Prairie Farms to speak to us. This brings me to my advice for the incoming class. Always be ready to experience something amazing. You never know when that guest speaker or tour leader is about to change your life with a few words. Keep your pen and paper close, and you will never regret paying too much attention. To those guest speakers and businesses who opened their doors to the class of 2020, I say thank you for the rare experiences. To Sheri, Colby, board members, and the professionals who gave me their time and devotion without thinking twice, I appreciate your work more than I can describe. Finally, to the rest of the class and the entire Richland County CEO Community, I give thanks for allowing me to be a part of something truly special. Thank you for leaving your impact on me!
Sincerely,
Travis Wilke
CEO Class of 2020
